About the Artist
Susan Spivak is a Hudson Valley painter whose work centers on curiosity, experimentation, and the expressive power of color.
A lifelong creative person, Spivak spent many years exploring artistic expression through music, theater, and handcraft before turning her focus more fully to painting in recent years. What began as an experiment quickly became a daily studio practice and a source of ongoing discovery.
Her paintings evolve through play, observation, and an openness to new techniques. Some works emerge from landscapes and botanical forms; others unfold through color studies and intuitive movement on the canvas.
Viewers are often drawn to the emotional quality of her work—the way color and gesture create a sense of movement, atmosphere, and quiet storytelling.
Spivak paints from her studio in the Hudson Valley and exhibits locally through Art Gallery 71 Rhinebeck.
